What people ask us first

What is tax planning, exactly?

Tax planning is the proactive design of your financial decisions — entity structure, income timing, deductions, credits, benefit plans — so that you lawfully pay less tax. It happens before deadlines, while choices can still change the outcome. Filing a return reports the past; planning shapes it.

Do you prepare tax returns?

No. We are a planning practice only. Return filing is handled by trusted outside preparers, who work from the plan we design with you.

Who is tax planning worth it for?

Generally: business owners, high-income individuals and families, and retirees with significant account balances or estate exposure. If your tax picture is simple, planning may not move the needle much — and if that’s your situation, we’ll say so in the first meeting.

Does my business entity type really matter?

Yes. Your entity type dictates how income is taxed, what deductions are available, and what planning room exists. It’s one of the first things we review, and changing it — when the facts support it — can be one of the most consequential moves available.

Are charitable donations a viable strategy?

They can be. Charitable giving you already intend to do can often be structured and timed to produce significantly better tax results. We plan the how and when — the generosity is yours.

What information do you need from me?

Typically prior-year tax returns and a picture of your current income and business structure. We’ll tell you exactly what to gather after the introductory meeting — and nothing is uploaded through this website.

Will you promise me a specific amount of savings?

No — and you should be cautious of anyone who does. Results depend on your specific facts and current law. What we do promise: a written plan, the reasoning behind every recommendation, and candor about what planning can and cannot do for you.

How do fees work?

We discuss fees plainly in the introductory meeting, before any engagement begins. There is no cost or obligation for that first conversation.
